BREEDING & TRAINING THERAPY DOGS
Training a therapy or assistance dog can be a heartbreaking business. It is absolutely possible that even after many thousands of hours of training and exposure, a dog may sure a genuine unsuitability for the role. I passionately believe that every dog has a job it was created for. It just sometimes takes a while for us to work out what that job is.
If you are going to put all the hours of training and love into a dog, it might as well be one that has a high chance of being perfectly suited to therapy and assistance work!

YOUNG DOGSDepending on the breeding of the pup, training a fully credentialed therapy dog takes many hundreds of hours and considerable resources.
WAGS has been perfecting therapy dog training standards for many years now and we now have a solid system for developing pups into highly committed team members. WAGS sometimes has young dogs available at different stages of this process, or perhaps you would like support to train your own? |
