BREEDING & TRAINING THERAPY DOGS

Training a therapy or assistance dog can be a heartbreaking business. It is absolutely possible that even after many thousands of hours of training and exposure, a dog may sure a genuine unsuitability for the role. I passionately believe that every dog has a job it was created for. It just sometimes takes a while for us to work out what that job is.

If you are going to put all the hours of training and love into a dog, it might as well be one that has a high chance of being perfectly suited to therapy and assistance work!

BREEDING

Good therapy dogs are, in the first instance, bred to do this specific job. WAGS has developed strict breeding protocols over the years that ensure that the few litters we do breed are successful dogs in this field.

Therapy dogs come in all shapes and sizes. And they fulfill a multitude of roles in the community. WAGS puppies are in demand and are only occasionally available.

WAGS breeds to the highest ethical standards. We breed infrequently and to strict timelines. WAGS has a zero wastage policy.

If you are interested in purchasing a pup, please get in contact and discuss your needs with us.

YOUNG DOGS

Depending on the breeding of the pup, training a fully credentialed therapy dog takes many hundreds of hours and considerable resources.

WAGS has been perfecting therapy dog training standards for many years now and we now have a solid system for developing pups into highly committed team members.

WAGS sometimes has young dogs available at different stages of this process, or perhaps you would like support to train your own?

  • Enjoy meeting new people and visiting new places
  • Have no negative history (like nipping or biting)
